Affiliated with this year’s Chicago Architecture Biennial, the Chicago Architectural Club has announced the 2015 Burnham Prize Competition: Currencies of Architecture. This year’s Burnham Prize was inspired by the Chicago Architecture Biennial’s title, “The State of the Art of Architecture,” and explores the question: what is the state of the art of architecture today? Entrants are challenged to create a single image that exemplifies a point of view on the current state of architecture – whether it is a celebration, a challenge, a statement or anything else.

In architectural history, iconic images representing the zeitgeist of the age have come and gone. Whether images of buildings themselves or renderings of hypothetical futures, these images captured and questioned the state of architecture in their time, not only representing the present, but also suggesting future trends. This competition asks what the iconic image of today’s state of architecture would look like.

The call for entries began on June 26, 2015, with final submission deadline by noon, August 24, 2015. The winners will be announced October 8, 2015. Read more about the competition, with full rules and registration information here.
